Medications

Medications have their own area in TheraTap, separate from services and products. You enter the purchase price, and TheraTap can calculate the sale price according to the German drug price ordinance (AMPreisV). On invoices you add medications like any other item.

  1. Open the area

Go to Settings → Medications and click Medication.

  2. Name and description

The name appears on the invoice, the description below it.

  3. Choose the price calculation

    Option When Calculation
Set price manually e.g. over-the-counter products You enter the sale price
Veterinary drug, § 3 AMPreisV Default for veterinary drugs Tiered surcharge on the purchase price (68 % to 30 %, fixed amounts in between)
Veterinary practice, § 10 AMPreisV Dispensing by veterinarians Like § 3, but at most 25 % on the part above €51.13 and 20 % above €127.82
Human drug for animals Human drugs used for animals 3 % + €8.10

If GOT billing is enabled for the practice, § 10 is preselected, otherwise § 3.

  4. Enter the purchase price

Enter the purchase price and choose whether it is net or gross. Gross prices are converted to net with the selected VAT rate. The calculated sale price is shown right away.

  5. Unit and PZN (optional)

Unit (e.g. pack, tablet, ml) and the German pharmacy product number (PZN) help you find it again. The list can be searched by PZN.

The basis is the net purchase price, plus the maximum surcharge of the selected rule. Depending on your Accounting settings, the sale price is stored as a net or gross price (incl. VAT). Under the small business regulation it stays net.

Net purchase price § 3 net § 10 net
€4.00 €6.41 €6.41
€20.00 €28.35 €28.35
€100.00 €130.00 €127.56
€200.00 €260.00 €248.95

When you change the purchase price or VAT rate, TheraTap recalculates the sale price on save. If you switch the practice between net and gross prices, all calculated medications are adjusted automatically.

When adding lines you find medications under Medication. They are billed like products and count as products in statistics and exports. Medications can also be part of bundles.
