Billing according to GOT

TheraTap lets you bill your veterinary services directly according to the Gebührenordnung für Tierärzte (GOT, version of 22 November 2022) — the German Veterinary Fee Schedule. You select services from an integrated catalog, choose the factor per line item, and TheraTap automatically applies prices and descriptions to your invoice.

Note

Access to the fee schedule (GOT) is available on all plans — veterinarians are required to follow the GOT; animal therapists can use it as a reference tool but are not legally bound by it.

Enable GOT Mode

1. Open Settings → Fee Schedule (GOT).

2. Enable the toggle “GOT mode for this team”.

3. Optionally configure:

   • Travel allowance per kilometer (e.g. €0.30/km)
   • Flat travel allowance per visit (alternative to mileage billing)
   • Emergency service surcharge (default: €50 net)

4. Save.

From now on, the “Add GOT line item” button appears in the invoice modal next to the regular product picker.

A GOT Line Item on the Invoice

1. Open an existing invoice or create a new one.

2. Click “Add GOT line item”. The GOT picker opens.

3. Select the appropriate tab (Favorites, Part A, Part B, or Part C) or use full-text search.

4. The species filter is automatically set to your patient’s species (dog / cat / horse). You can expand it at any time.

5. Click the factor button for the desired service: 1× / 2× / 3× (in emergency service mode additionally 4×).

6. The line item is added to the invoice immediately — with plain-language description, factor note in the description, and correctly calculated price.

Emergency Service Mode

At the top of the GOT picker you’ll find an emergency service toggle. When enabled:

• The factor buttons show 2× / 3× / 4× instead of 1× / 2× / 3×.
• An additional “Add emergency service flat rate” button adds your configured surcharge (default €50) as a separate line item on the invoice.

Caution

Emergency service mode only applies for the current picker session — the next time you open it, it will be disabled again. This prevents you from accidentally billing standard services with increased factors.

Travel Allowance

At the bottom of the GOT picker you’ll find the “Travel allowance” section:

• Enter kilometers — TheraTap multiplies by your configured per-kilometer rate and adds the line item.
• Use flat rate — if you’ve configured a flat travel allowance, simply click the button and the amount is added to the invoice.

Favorites

You can mark frequently used services as favorites — they appear as their own tab at the top of the picker.

Favorites are shared across the team: all team members see the same list.

Protected Against GOT Updates

Each GOT line item is stored as a snapshot on the invoice at the time of creation (plain-language description, price, and factor). Even if the GOT is updated later or you refresh the master catalog, existing invoices remain unchanged — important for compliant bookkeeping and DATEV export.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which GOT version is stored? Currently the version of 22 November 2022 (BAnz AT). When updates are published, we refresh the catalog. Existing invoices remain unchanged.

Can I choose factors above 3× / 4×? No. The GOT allows a maximum of 3× (4× in emergency service) of the simple rate. TheraTap blocks higher factors.

Does billing according to GOT also work with loyalty cards / online booking / Lexoffice? Yes. GOT line items are treated like any other invoice line item — all downstream features (PDF export, e-invoice, Lexoffice sync, DATEV export, Stripe payment) work unchanged.

What happens to GOT line items when I create a credit note? The credit note automatically inherits the GOT metadata (reference, factor, species) and only negates the prices — keeping the audit trail complete.
